    Had Mickey's Backyard BBQ scheduled for 01-16-10. Just received a call stating they are cancelling it. With 4 adults, ds 3 and 2 nieces 3 and 5, which show would you replace it with, Spirit of Aloha or Hoop de Doo? Preferrably someone who has seen both!

    Oh Kimberly, I am so sorry Disney had to cancel the Mickey's Backyard Barbecue as that is one of my grandson's favorite show.  But there are other choices and that is the good thing!

    I would suggest you book the Hoop De Doo instead.  The Spirit of Aloha is a fine show but at that time of year it can be cool and I don't feel the food is as good.

    The Hoop De Doo has some of the best fried chicken and ribs on property and it is loud and casual making this a great spot for families!  Some of the humor will be over the children's heads but they will still enjoy the constant action and music that takes place through-out the show.

    I suggest making reservations for the early show if possible and head to Fort Wilderness in plenty of time for the kids to take the pony rides that are located right next door to Pioneer Hall.  You can also visit the barn that stables the Disney horses you see on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom.  One other idea to make this a complete night is to book carriage rides for the group following dinner. Each carriage holds 4 persons.  You would do this by calling 407-939-7529.
