Would a Mickey and friends ever get canceled because of bad weather?

    Hiya, Joan!

Welcome to planDisney! I am so delighted that you stopped by with your planning question. There are so many different ways to meet Mickey and his pals at The Most Magical Place on Earth. You can hug your favorite mouse while enjoying Character Dining or wave hello as he dances in the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade. But what happens when sunny skies turn into little black rain clouds? Here's what you need to know about meeting Mickey Mouse during drizzles and downpours.

Rain is a regular occurrence at Walt Disney World Resort. We'll call it part of the Flordia charm. A little light rain should not affect parades, but heavier showers will. But Hakuna Matata! You may just be able to see the Rainy Day Cavalcade. This super unique offering is so much fun and is sure to leave a smile on your face. Stage shows such as Mickey's Magical Friendship Faire may not occur during rain.

When it comes to meeting Mickey Mouse rain traditionally only interferes with Character Greetings that take place outside in the theme parks. The majority of Mickey's favorite spots to greet Guests are inside, meaning he is excited to sign autographs rain or shine. Character Dining experiences are indoors, and are only impacted by park closure for severe weather. So if you are heading to Chef Mickey's to have dinner with the whole gang, thunderstorms will not impact your adventure.

Speaking of severe weather, if your question happens to be referring to all of Walt Disney World Resort, the answer is yes on occasion. Should extreme weather conditions head towards the magic, Walt Disney World Resort may choose to temporarily close theme parks, water parks, and Disney Springs for the safety of their Guests and Cast Members. Checking in at Walt Disney World Resort Collection hotels may also be limited. There are special cancelation policies in place for this type of weather event.

If rain is in the forecast for your magical stay, be sure to check out the Disney Parks Blog for all the fun that can be had during a drizzly day. Pack your ponchos and get ready to have a blast!

I hope your upcoming adventure is memorable and magical!
    We'll see ya real soon!
