Hi, Jessica! Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
Whenever I think of
Magic Kingdom Park, an iconic image that comes to mind is that of a Cast Member holding a giant bunch of colorful balloons. Balloons are seen frequently around the
Walt Disney World Resort, so I can certainly understand your concern regarding your daughter's latex allergy.
One of the most common types of balloons that you will see in the
theme parks is the type that you mentioned in your question. While the Mickey ears balloon is latex, the clear, outer-shell balloon that it is encased in is plastic. Other than these Mickey balloons, the majority of balloons that I have seen in the parks are the mylar foil variety.
If you are staying at a
Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, please be aware that you may encounter latex balloons here as well. I have seen Cast Members hand out balloons to guests celebrating their first Walt Disney World Resort visit or other special occasions in several of the resort hotels. The exception would be
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. Balloons are not permitted inside Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge or
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park due to the fact that they could harm the animals. Since latex balloons can be found at most Walt Disney World Resort Hotels, your daughter's latex allergy might be something worth noting on your resort hotel reservation.
You may also want to speak with Cast Members about your daughter's allergy at the
dining locations that you visit. Dining locations avoid the use of latex gloves during food preparation in order to be allergy-friendly, but it never hurts to double check.
Wishing you a magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
Samantha
