Ahoy there, Helen! I’m so glad you stopped by planDisney with your question because this is one of my favorite features of a Disney Cruise!
When you download the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app, you can chat with both your travel party and new friends you meet on the ship. Better yet, you can do it with Disney emoticons! To start, simply connect to the DCL-Guest WiFi once you’re on board or at the port. Every Guest is assigned a Chat ID within the app. To communicate with a fellow traveler, simply start a new message and then enter their Chat ID in the “To” field, and off you go! This is a completely free and fun way to keep in touch and message while sailing the big blue.
Of course, if you’re looking for more connectivity choices, you can purchase an
Internet Package while at sea. You'll discover options to connect one or multiple devices, as well as day passes and length of cruise passes. As much as I love staying off my phone and being in the moment while cruising, it’s also fun to share some of my favorite photos on social media before I get home.
You may also be wondering how to communicate with loved ones who are not on the ship. If you have an iPhone, you can use iMessage to chat or video call. WhatsApp also shares these features. These platforms can also be used to message back and forth with others on the ship (but to me, it’s not as fun without those cute Disney emojis).
And Helen, let’s not forget all the other features of the DCL Navigator app, like being able to make reservations, check out Port Adventures, and find out the times for your favorite
Character Greetings.
My family and I have made lots of new friends cruising with Disney over the past two decades, some of who we still keep in touch with to this day. I hope these tips will make it easier for you to meet and stay connected to all your Disney Cruise pals. Should you have any more questions before your trip, please sail back to us here at
planDisney.
Bon voyage,
Sami
