We are going on a Merry Time cruise in a few weeks. We would like to place Christmas lights on our door. They would be battery-operated with plastic lights. Is that permissible?

    Hi Walt,

Welcome back to planDisney and thank you so much for asking us another great question about your family’s upcoming Disney Cruise Line vacation!

I just got back from a Very Merrytime Cruise aboard the Disney Wish and we had an absolutely fabulous time! It was a truly fabulous way to get into the spirit of the season, with beautiful holiday decorations all over the ship. My favourite decorations, however, were those that I saw on some of my fellow Guests’ stateroom doors!! I’m happy to say that I saw lots of doors that were covered in tinsel, wreaths and even battery-operated lights.

A few tips to make sure that you and your lights will be good to go during your cruise: make sure that you pack the lights in your carry-on bag so that they can be available for inspection before boarding. Also, you can’t use tape or adhesive on your door, so make sure that you have some magnetic holders to make sure that they stay on properly throughout your cruise. Finally, please note that you can’t use over-the-door hangers or hooks, either. I highly recommend that you take a look at the list of Prohibited and Restricted Items before you cruise.

If you have any other questions about stateroom door decorations or other cruise planning questions, please don’t hesitate to come back and see us.

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
