Is the memory maker worth it?

Hi Jennifer! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Memory Maker is a great service that allows you to download all of the pictures taken through the Disney PhotoPass Service. There are plenty of Disney PhotoPass locations throughout all of the parks. We love to have our picture taken in front of the Tree of Life in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. There are Magic Shots that add Disney Characters to your photos after they are taken, Attraction Photos and Videos (our favorite was captured during the Tower of Terror ride), and at select restaurants and dining experiences there are PhotoPass photographers on hand to capture some special moments.

When figuring out if Memory Maker is actually worth it or not you have to take a few different things into account. First is price. If you purchase Memory Maker in advance you will save $30. The advance purchase price is $169 instead of the $199 you would pay after you arrive. Second I always take into account if I want to lug my big camera around with me or just use my phone. If I choose to use my phone then I really think Memory Maker is worth it. The PhotoPass Photographers have captured some awesome shots of my family without me having to do any of the work! Third, in order to make it really worth it, you have to know that you are going to commit to stopping to have your photos taken. We always seem to get the most out of it because we stop at a lot of the character stops and enjoy the ride photos.

The biggest two pro’s for me is that I don’t have to take my bulky camera along with me, and that I can download any and all of the photos that were taken during my visit. The con for me is the price (I am always on a budget.) I would say to weigh out the pro’s and con’s for your family. Go with the decision that best meets your family’s needs!
