Memory Maker: For photos on attractions, do you have to purchase the magic band+? Do you show the photographer a QR code to have photo linked to your memory maker?

    Hi Stacey,

Thanks for bringing your important question to planDisney! Our vacation memories are so precious, and I understand the importance of knowing your Disney PhotoPass Service images will appear correctly in your My Disney Experience account while on vacation. Here’s the scoop!

You do not have to purchase a MagicBand or MagicBand+ to link photos taken by a Disney PhotoPass photographer or while on attractions. There are several alternate methods based on your comfort level. You can see these options in your My Disney Experience app even before vacation if you’d like to become familiar with these from home.

To link attraction photos, be sure to have your mobile device signed into the My Disney Experience app and out of low power mode while riding (be sure it’s stowed securely too). Enable Bluetooth technology for the My Disney Experience app and your attraction photos should magically appear within a short time. Some attractions feature a photo preview as you exit, and you may also tap your MagicMobile pass or theme park admission card to link those photos as you walk by.

For posed photos that you have taken by Disney PhotoPass Service throughout the parks and resorts, you’ll see several linking options within your My Disney Experience app. Open the app, and click on the three lines to the bottom right of the Home screen. Then tap the Photos tile, and at the top right select Link Photos.

Here are the alternatives to scanning a MagicBand or MagicBand+:

    • You can ask the photographer for a PhotoPass card. This will have a barcode and a 16-character PhotoPass ID on it. You can either scan the barcode or type the number to link your images. Be sure and do this every time you have a new series of photos taken.
    • You can select Show PhotoPass Code and a personalized Quick Response (QR) code will appear. The photographer then scans your code with their device to link the images each time you stop for a new photo.

I recently spoke with a PhotoPass photographer while visiting the Walt Disney World Resort about her best tips for Guests – she advised to click the Filter link at the top right of your photos within your My Disney Experience app. Select View All to be sure photos from your Family & Friends are in the collection. Anyone in your party can link photos from attractions or photographers with one Memory Maker purchase and they will all appear for you this way.

Stacey, please come back and see us if you have any further questions to finalize your trip.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
