If you or a member of your family needed medical attention, is there medical staff on Disney property? Where would you go or who would you call for help?

That's a great question, JoAnn!  No one ever expects to become ill or have a medical emergency while on vacation, but it definitely pays to be as prepared as possible to deal with such a situation if need be.

If you or a family member have an urgent, non life-threatening medical need while at Walt Disney World, you may want to seek care at a local walk-in clinic.  CentraCare has twenty urgent care centers in the Orlando area.  The closest one to Walt Disney World is the CentraCare office at 12500 Apopka Vineland Road in Lake Buena Vista.  This location has hours between 8 am and midnight Monday through Friday and they are open between 8 am and 8 pm on weekends.  If you have questions, you can call them at (407) 934-2273.  They accept many kinds of major medical insurance and provide free transportation to the clinic if necessary.  My niece recently visited this office with a suspected ear infection and her family was pleased with the quality of care she received.

If you prefer, you can receive Physician Room Service within the privacy of your hotel room by calling (407) 238-2000.  The front desk of your Disney resort can also help you find a doctor who will visit you at your room.

Of course, life-threatening medical emergencies should be addressed at local emergency rooms.  Contact the nearest Cast Member to let them know of your immediate need for an ambulance.

Best wishes for an emergency-free vacation!
