Do medications have to be in original bottles?

    Hi there, Kathleen!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!  Wahoo!  Since you are asking about packing specifics, it sounds like your Disney Cruise Line vacation is fast approaching!  If it’s still a bit away, I appreciate that you are thinking ahead!  No matter how hard I try, I am always a last-minute packer which results in either forgetting something important OR way overpacking!  In fact, we set sail next week and I have yet to pack a single thing for our voyage, although I have a running list that I keep adding things to!

Disney Cruise Line requests that prescriptions be in their original bottles when bringing them onboard.  Personally, I have brought over-the-counter medications onboard out of their original bottles, but always keep my prescriptions in their original containers.  While you never expect something to happen, it’s always a good idea to have those prescribed medications and dosages known in the event you need to visit the onboard Health Center.  Additionally, you will want to keep these in your carry-on luggage and not in your checked baggage.  We have never had any issues getting our checked luggage onboard, but in case something happens, you will want to have those medications with you.

As you are continuing to plan – and pack – for your adventure on the high seas, be sure to review Disney Cruise Line’s packing list and prohibited items list.  Some things that I always bring onboard and recommend Guests bring include: clothespins to keep your beach towels from blowing in the wind or to hang wet bathing suits in the bathroom, Ziploc bags because you’ll find that these are handy for a variety of things, a pop up laundry hamper if you anticipate needing to use the onboard laundry facilities and a lanyard to hold your Key to the World card.  These items remain in my “Mickey Boat” suitcase so I always have those ready to go when I eventually get around to packing.  Oh, and definitely don’t forget your pirate garb if you plan on dressing up for Pirate Night!

Wishing you an amazing adventure with many magical memories made!

    Happy Sailing!
