For medical reasons I can't go on safari at animal kingdom. Can I still see the animals?

    Hello, Deborah,

Thank you for sending your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.  One great feature of Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park is that there are many animals that guests can enjoy seeing without going on Kilimanjaro Safaris.  While they aren't quite the same as those seen on the attraction, they are equally as wonderful.

When you enter the park, the Oasis Exhibits have an assortment of different animals like barking deer, boar, giant anteater, and spoonbills. As you make your way toward Discovery Island, you can explore the Discovery Island Trails where my favorite spot is located:  the Asian Small-Clawed Otter.  They are just too adorable!

At Africa where Kilimanjaro Safaris is located, you can walk through Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail to see gorillas, hippos, and different exotic birds. From there, you can head toward Asia where you can walk by the gibbons and then end up at the Maharajah Jungle Trek. Not only will you see tigers there, but also a Komodo dragon, bats, and a chance to explore an aviary filled with beautiful birds. Throughout the walk, you'll find animal experts who are filled with lots of insightful information about the animals.

Another way to see some of the similar animals on the safari is to visit Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge where there are several savannas with over 30 different African animals.  One of my must-visit spots at the resort is Sanaa, which is located in the Kidani Village building at the resort.  It is a ground-level restaurant with amazing views of the animals on the savanna.  You never know what antics you may see while there from the animals.  Also, the food is incredibly delicious; I will be daydreaming about their bread service all day now.

Wishing you a magical trip!  Please let us know if we can help with any further questions. -Kara
