Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Gayle!
A few years ago I had the privilege of meeting one of the nutritionists who works on Walt Disney World Resort’s
Special Diets team, and I was so impressed with her commitment to ensuring that Guests with food allergies, health concerns, and special dining needs can be easily accommodated so they can focus on what’s really important: a magical vacation together with their favorite people. I’m so glad you stopped by with this question, and it’s my pleasure to provide you with some information so you can take care of your needs while soaking in all the magic.
Generally speaking, to-go containers aren’t permitted at
Walt Disney World Resort buffets and family-style dining. In your situation, it’s possible that an accommodation can be made, and the best place to start is by contacting Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com. They’re always so helpful in navigating the dining process, and they can help determine whether you’ll be able to bring your container with you to enjoy your meal later and, if it’s allowed, add a note to your reservation or contact the restaurant in advance so they are expecting you. You can also contact (407) WDW-DINE to ask about the policies at particular restaurants.
If you’ll be
staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, you’ll have a mini-refrigerator in your room, and you’ll find a microwave in your resort’s Quick-Service or food court location if you need to heat anything up. If it’s easier for your dietary needs, you may want to look into a 1- or 2-bedroom
Deluxe Villa or one of the
Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, as they include full kitchens. You’ll also find that Table Service dining locations that are not buffets or family style are happy to box up meals for you – we do that often in my family. (One time, my son had entered meltdown mode halfway through dinner at
Sanaa, and our server actually boxed up a Mickey ice cream sundae for him to eat in the lobby once he calmed down. Magic!)
Gayle, I’m sprinkling pixie dust that your special diet can be easily accommodated. Have so much fun with your planning and Disney dreaming, and please come back and see us if you have any more questions.
Now, more than ever, it’s a wonderful time to visit the Walt Disney World Resort, with so many new experiences to enjoy and look forward to. Be sure to read the

Robyn
