Welcome to planDisney, Heather! I'm so glad you stopped by with your question about Disability Access Service (DAS) at Walt Disney World. DAS has been recently updated, and guests who have not traveled to a Disney destination since these updates may have questions about their individual needs and important details regarding registration and expiration. I'd be happy to connect you with information about registration as well as additional resources that you may find helpful as you plan for your visit.
The
DAS website indicates that the service is designed to support guests with developmental disabilities like autism or similar. The best way to determine your eligibility is to set up a video chat with a Cast Member up to 60 days in advance of your visit. They will be able to assist you with questions or concerns, discuss recommended services, and ultimately determine if you are eligible to register for DAS.
Aside from DAS, Disney World offers a robust
series of accommodations for guests with disabilities. The most relevant services for you based on what you've described in your question may be
mobility services, which includes
wheelchair and
ECV rentals. These may help you avoid standing for lengthy periods of time in the parks. I also want you to be aware of the
healthcare services that are available around the resort area, like in-room care visits and First Aid locations. In the event that you start to feel unwell, just notify a friendly Cast Member and they will be able to assist you or connect you with the care you need.
I hope this information helps you plan your visit, Heather! You can always reach out to a Cast Member in Disability Services
via email if you have additional questions, or visit us again here at planDisney for more help! I am wishing you a fabulous and stress-free vacation in The Most Magical Place on Earth.
Stay magical,
Scott
