Do meal reservations cost money for cancellations? The expanded hours in October, are they only for the Halloween events? Will we be going back to fast passes in October?

Hey there, hi there Kassi! Thanks for stopping by planDisney where you're always welcome as can be. I'd be happy to assist you today.

Hot dog! It sounds like you have a fabulous fall vacation planned. Let's unpack your questions one at a time. First, when you make Advanced Dining Reservations at a Walt Disney World restaurant, you will be asked to secure your reservation with a credit card. There is no charge to make the reservation (unless you plan to dine at Cinderella's Royal Table, in which case you will pay the full cost of the meal at the time of booking), but if you do not cancel the reservation at least one day in advance and fail to show up for your meal, you will be charged a no-show fee of $10 per person. This fee is subject to change without notice. I always review My Plans in My Disney Experience the day before to make sure we are still on track to make it to all of our meals.

This October, you'll find two new special events on the calendar. Disney After Hours Boo Bash is a Halloween-themed after-hours celebration that takes place on select nights through October 31. It requires a separate ticket and is not included in your daily theme park admission. Extended Evening Theme Park Hours is a new benefit, exclusively for Guests staying in Disney Deluxe Resorts or Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts. These hours are available on select nights at Magic Kingdom Park and EPCOT and a schedule can be found here

At this time, FastPass+ is not available. Instead, Disney is gearing up to launch the “Genie” feature, which will be part of the My Disney Experience app. With this new feature, you will have the option to purchase Genie+ which will allow you to skip the line at some attractions, similar to how FastPass+ used to work. We don't know when Genie and Genie+ will debut, so follow the Disney Parks Blog to learn more.

I hope this answers all of your questions, Kassi! You'll be visiting just as the 50th-anniversary celebration is getting underway. Best wishes for an unforgettable trip during this very special time.

    See ya real soon!

My family and I love to travel the world, but our best memories are those made when we're visiting Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort. No matter how many times we visit, there is always something new to see, ride, or eat at the Disney Parks. Learn More About Betsy
