Hey there, Matthew!
The
Disney Dining Plan is so wildly popular. I know my family and I have enjoyed using the Disney Dining Plan on many of our past trips to
Walt Disney World. It was really nice to have all aspects of a Walt Disney World vacation paid for ahead of time. Plus, it was fun to be the yes mom. You want the most expensive menu item - sure why not! Snack time, that's great! Let's find something really yummy. I know so many other people felt the same way.
The million-dollar question right is when will it return. However, here at
planDisney, we are regular Guests who have a passion for sharing planning tips about all things Disney destinations. Because of this, we aren't privy to behind-the-scenes information like when we can expect to see it return. I've been keeping an eye out over on the
Disney Parks Blog because I feel like we can expect an announcement any day now. I really thought we would have seen it return already. So many Walt Disney World restaurants have opened back up recently which is just such a great step in the right direction.
If the Disney Dining Plan is released before your vacation later this year, I am certain you'll be able to add it to your existing vacation package. Previously, Guests had up to 48 hours prior to their check-in date to do so and I think it will be similar to this in the future. Until then, Matthew, I've been encouraging people to start collecting
Disney Gift Cards instead. This is a similar way to budget for Disney dining because it is paid for ahead of time and has to be used for something at Walt Disney World. You can pick up Disney Gift Cards here and there at most major retail locations. I like to add a small one to my grocery cart. It doesn't add a lot to my bill every few weeks but I am always amazed at how quickly they can add up.
I have my fingers crossed the Disney Dining Plan will return soon - for you and me both! If you have any other questions as you plan your Walt Disney World vacation, feel free to swing back by and
ask me. I'm here to help.
Happy planning!
Jackie H.
