is the meal plan really worth it or is it almost the same if I bring my own snaks and breakfast food??

Hi Denise!  The dining plan is a super convenient option for those who choose to use it.  For my family, using the dining plan as part of our vacation package can vary from vacation to vacation.  What I typically do prior to a vacation is outline where I plan on eating along with the cost of the meals.  (You can find the prices on menus posted on Disney's site or unofficial sites such as allears.net.)  I then compare that to the cost of the dining plan.  If I come out ahead or pretty close, I opt to use the dining plan.  If it isn't cost effective for that particular vacation, I opt to purchase a Disney gift card that I use specifically for meals (it gives me the feeling of having the meals prepaid).

In your case, it sounds like you are planning on bringing some of your meals.  However, if you still plan to eat lunch/dinner at the Disney restaurants, I would suggest you take a few minutes to go through the exercise above to see if it's worth the purchase of the dining plan.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
