In May we are taking my 3 year old son and our infant son to Disney for the first time. We are trying to plan character meals now but I am just not sure how to plan it so farahead. Any suggestions on what days/times are best to do what meals? Thanks

The character meals are the ones that will be the hardest to get reservations for when planning a Walt Disney vacation.  You can make reservations 90 days out from your arrival date and I would recommend you do this if at all possible.

We often enjoyed the breakfast character experiences as much as the dinner ones so it is a matter of when you think your children would be able to enjoy them the most.  My grandsons are more morning people and so the breakfast meals were best.  Some of my favorite character experiences in the morning are Donald's Safari Breakfast at Tusker House in the Animal Kingdom and also the Cape May breakfast at the Beach Club resort.  Chef Mickey at the Contemporary resort is wonderful for both breakfast and dinner and has the best variety of Disney characters in my book....Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, and Donald.  Do note though that characters can change.

If your son is a Winnie the Pooh fan then try the Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom for any meal. Here Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet come out and greet the guests.  If your son is a fan of Jojo's Circus or Little Einsteins then try Hollywood and Vine for lunch or breakfast.  Lilo and Stitch as well as often Mickey and Pluto will greet you for breakfast at Ohanas in the Polynesian resort.

I would try reserving a couple of character meals for your stay.  Perhaps you can find one of the above that you know will interest your son for breakfast and then find something a little different for an evening meal.  Some are in the theme parks and then others in resorts so that might alter your decision as well.  I know for my 3 year old grandson meeting Mickey Mouse is his first priority and all characters after that are the icing on the cake!  To make these reservations please call 407-939-3463.
