Hi Debbie,
Welcome to planDisney! I'm so happy to hear that your children are looking for options that aren't just "kid food." I've always been proud that my daughters grew up as adventurous eaters, in part because we tried so many foods at the Epcot international Food & Wine Festival and throughout Walt Disney World when they were small.
I think Disney has done a good job in recent years of giving better, often healthier, choices to kids with more grown-up tastes. It seems that the quick service restaurants I find most interesting as an adult tend to have the more adventurous kids meals, too.
Satu'li Canteen at Animal Kingdom is a good example. As adults, it's one of our favorites because of the spice and crunch of the Asian-influenced bowls. Two of the bowls we like -- the crispy tofu and the chopped wood-grilled chicken -- come in a kid-sized version. Flame Tree Barbecue, also at Animal Kingdom, offers kids a chicken drumstick meal or a pulled pork platter.
At Magic Kingdom,
Columbia Harbour House has grilled salmon, a grilled shrimp skewer and a turkey sandwich on the kids menu, and Pecos Bill's has some kids' nachos with a little kick of spice.
At Hollywood Studios, the under 10 set can choose a chicken farro salad, a shrimp bowl or a pork taco at the
ABC Commissary. Backlot Express has kids salads and tofu, too.
As you might expect, Epcot has a variety of quick service cuisine for kids, from teriyaki chicken at Katsura Grill to empanadas at La Cantina de San Angel to potstickers and sweet and sour chicken at
Lotus Blossom Cafe.
You and your children can see all the
menus and choices available on the Walt Disney World website. The list can be filtered based on location, quick service, participating in the 2026 Dining Plan and more. Your kids may have fun looking at the lists in anticipation. When my girls were little, we would peruse the menus in advance to be sure each of them got to pick at least one special thing they wanted to try on our visit.
Even though everybody loves a good burger, a chicken tender (especially Disney chicken tenders) and a PB&J now and then, it's great that your kids want more -- and that Disney has options for them.
Thanks again for your question, Debbie. Please let us know if we can give you other tips or suggestions as your trip nears.
Enjoy!
Wilma
