Hi JoAnn!
As a Disney Moms Panelist and high school teacher, I'd be delighted to help you plan an itinerary for your school group. Last week I had the opportunity to lead a group of high school seniors on a trip to Walt Disney World and I learned plenty about the process of planning and executing a trip of this sort.
First, I would advise the adult leaders of your traveling party to decide on dates for your trip and book rooms at one of Disney's magnificent resorts. Disney's value resorts are fun, larger than life accommodations that are well-suited to school trips. Our students stayed at Disney's Pop Century Resort and the students and chaperones loved the atmosphere. I highly recommend that groups such as yours stay on Disney property because it make transportation ten times easier than if you are not staying at a resort that offers free and frequent transportation to the theme parks. Definitely consider this option.
Next, I suggest that you look at the amazing range of intellectually stimulating, curriculum-based programs offered to school groups through the
Disney Youth Education Series department. My students did programs in American history and corporate leadership. They were fascinating and we gained entry to the theme parks (and some of the most sought-after rides) before the parks were even open to the general population. It was such a cool experience for all of us.
Don't hesitate to post additional questions about planning trips for school groups. As an educator and a Disney-enthusiast, I'd be delighted to help in any way I can!
Thanks for your wonderful question.
Sending heaps of pixie dust your way,
Jill
