This may be an odd ? but asking anyway! 4 U non DVC panelists, why have U chosen not to buy into DVC? Went 1st time in AUG and it was fabulous (favorite vacation EVER). Considering DVC, but unsure- 3 young boys so now is time. Pros and cons?

Hi Jennifer!  Please don't just go by my words as this is a very talked about topic and we all have our separate opinions.  What works for one does not work for everyone!

Our family has not bought into the DVC idea.  When we spend our money on real estate we prefer to know exactly what we are getting. With the DVC idea you are only getting space and not specific rooms. One vacation might find you over-looking a beautiful scene and the next one you might find yourself watching the dumpster out your window. A bit dramatic of a description but possible. I am also not as concerned about the amenities of a DVC property such as the laundry facilities and full kitchens.  For me a Disney vacation is not having to worry about cooking and laundry and if it is there I would feel like I had to use the facilities!

We always said if we could put money into a specific room at a location we would buy a year at Disney if we could!  We own property in Colorado where we do that so it is not that we are against the basic idea of sharing!

Being the grandma of the panel I am a bit old school and never use the dining plan either.  When I come to Disney for my vacations I want to come and stay where I feel like it, eat where I want to eat, and do what I can whenever.  I don't want to sit and figure out points and how many I have and where I can eat with what is left.  But that is me and my magical experience is very different then others.

If the DVC idea works for you and you had a wonderful time then it is something you can consider.  You can stay at the other DVC properties so you are not tied down to your own.  Talk with as many people as possible to get all of their input and then decide where your family fits into the DVC plan.
