Hello John,
Welcome to planDisney! Thanks for asking a question about the
Disney Vacation Club and
Disney Cruise Line voyages. I recently sailed on the Disney Dream with my fellow planDisney classmates and we had an incredible time. I am hoping to sail again soon, the sea is calling!
I love the incredible flexibility of being a Disney Vacation Club Member! No two DVC vacations are ever the same because there are so many ways to personalize each trip to suit the needs of those travelling. Members can use Vacation Points to stay at Disney Vacation Club Resorts or exchange them for Reservation Points to enjoy unique experiences like Disney Collection stays,
Adventures by Disney, Disney Cruise Line sailings, and so much more!
To locate the Points Charts for a Disney Cruise Line reservation, first, log in to the Disney Vacation Club website and hover over the "Destinations" tab. Next, click the button that says "
View All Points Charts" and select the sailing that you'd like to explore. The chart allows you to see the number of Points required based on the type of stateroom selected. When you are ready to book, call DVC
Member Services who will assist in converting Vacation Points into Reservation Points and will be sure to complete the reservation for you.
There are a few important things to know when exchanging Vacation Points for Reservation Points. When booking a cruise with Reservations Points with the Disney Cruise Line, the
Rule of Four applies. This rule means that if you're planning to take a cruise in your current Use Year, you'll need to book your reservation before the final four months of that year. However, if you secure your reservation within the first eight months, you’re all set—even if your stay falls in those final four months. Also, don’t forget there’s a one-time, non-refundable exchange fee (currently $95, though subject to change) when making a booking through this option.
Another key point to remember is that if you don’t have enough Vacation Points to cover the entire cruise for your travel party, you can use Banked or Borrowed Points, or even combine Reservation Points with cash to make up the difference. If choosing this method of booking, at least one person's fare must be paid in full by Reservation Points.
I hope this information is helpful to your vacation planning, John. If you have any other DVC or vacation planning questions, please revisit planDisney!
See ya real soon,
Candace
