May I use a Disney Gift Card for dining?

    Hey, howdy, hey, Margaret!

My family and I use Disney Gift Cards for nearly everything on our Disneyland Resort vacations. We use gift cards to pay for our stays at the Disneyland Resort Hotels, buy souvenirs, and purchase the Disney Genie+ service and individual Lightning Lane return times.

And yes, we also pay for dining at participating restaurants and snack stands using Disney Gift Cards. When dining at quick-service locations, we prefer to place mobile food and beverage orders. The mobile order checkout process in the Disneyland mobile app allows us to enter a Disney Gift Card. At table service restaurants, you can give your server a gift card to purchase your meal. You can even fill in a tip on the charge slip to be deducted from the gift card when the server closes out the meal charges.

Disney Gift Cards are accepted at all dining locations of the Disneyland Resort Hotels and all dining locations within the theme parks except for the Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop. Disney Gift Cards are accepted at Disney-owned shops in the Downtown Disney District. That includes Marceline's Confectionery. So if you’d like to consider Marceline's a dining location, I won’t judge. All of the other restaurants and snack stands at the Downtown Disney District are operated by third parties and do not currently accept Disney Gift Cards.

Tony’s Tip: I keep a list of our gift card numbers in a note on my phone. When I place a mobile food order or use Merchandise Mobile Checkout, I simply copy a number from my note and paste it into the checkout screen on the app. Also, while any place that accepts Disney Gift Cards can also accept Disney Gift Card eGifts, I find it more convenient to hand over a physical gift card when paying for dining at table service restaurants. Since we purchase most of our gift cards as eGifts, we use the Disney Gift Card website to combine gift cards and transfer balances between physical and eGift cards as necessary.

Thanks for visiting us at planDisney, Margaret. I hope you have a magical time at the Disneyland Resort!
