Hi Beth,
Welcome to planDisney, and greetings from a mama of an Autistic Mouseketeer!
At this point in the phased reopening,
face coverings are still required for all Guests ages two and up in all indoor locations and throughout Disney transportation. There are no exceptions to this rule, and it does apply even for Guests with special needs. I know that it can be tricky for our kiddos to comply with wearing masks when it feels uncomfortable to them. Do you have access to an Occupational Therapist? If so, I'd encourage you to ask them to work with your kiddo on becoming more comfortable with a mask. If not, Hakuna Matata...no worries! I'd recommend doing an internet search for "mask-wearing tips from an OT" to see if that can help your Mouseketeer become more comfortable before your visit.
Your little one won't need to wear a face covering outdoors or while eating and drinking, so that does allow for quite a bit of a break from a mask, and you can certainly find plenty to do if you'd like to center your vacation around outdoor activities. If you're still concerned that it's too much, though, you might want to consider postponing your vacation to see if the face-covering policy changes. If you'd like to discuss this further with a friendly Cast Member, please feel free to call
Disability Services at (407) 560-2547.
Thanks for bringing your question to us here at planDisney, Beth, and please let us know if we can help with anything else as you're planning your visit. I hope that you and your family can enjoy a truly magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation sometime soon!
