Welcome to planDisney, Kelly! It might be the season for Halloween, but my New Orleans heart skipped a beat to see your question about Mardi Gras today! Born and raised in the Crescent City, I've spent a lifetime drawn to parades and revelry, and there's nothing I don't love about a stay at Disney's Port Orleans Resort!
Kelly, both
Port Orleans Resort - Riverside and
Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter offer an assortment of recreational offerings for guests, but there is no scheduled daily Mardi Gras parade. If you visit the resort on Mardi Gras Day, there is usually a
Cast Member golf cart parade that guests can watch along the banks of the Sassagoula River. I had the chance to experience Mardi Gras Day here last year, and I loved all the extra excitement of the day and the special offerings like limited-time merchandise and character appearances!
Even though you won't be there during Mardi Gras for your upcoming visit, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy the resort and the culture of New Orleans! At Port Orleans French Quarter, I love admiring the New Orleans-inspired architecture and splashing around in the Doubloon Lagoon Pool. You'll even find
The Princess and the Frog playing on the
big screen on certain nights (usually Sundays); grab some beignets from
Scat Cat's Club - Cafe to enjoy while you watch Tiana chase her dreams! At Riverside, I love admiring the stately mansions and the moss that sets the scene for the Louisiana bayou. Be sure to visit the
Campfire on 'de Bayou on Ol' Man's Island nightly at 6 PM! And here's a little Louisiana lagniappe for you - no matter which of the two resorts you are staying at, you're welcome to enjoy the recreational offerings at both during your stay!
Another thing I love about this resort is the unique water transportation over to
Disney Springs! I love boarding the boat for a scenic and peaceful ride down the river to grab dinner or shop at Disney Springs when we stay here!
Kelly, I hope this helps! When you check into your Disney Resort hotel, be sure to ask about any special events for Halloween! There might be select offerings to celebrate spooky season! You can also usually find a sign in the resort lobby with all of the current recreational offerings available during your stay! If you have any other questions, we'd love for you to parade back to
planDisney any time!
Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler,
Alison
