Hi Marc, we are taking my parents to WDW (their first trip) in December of this year and looking at Ohanas, the Spirit of aloha dinner and noticed alot of pineapple is on the menu. Mom is highly allergic. Is there a way to work around this food allergy?

    Hi Heather!

Walt Disney World has some amazing dining experiences and the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show at the Polynesian Resort is one of them!  I have enlisted the help of my fellow Moms to give you the best possible response to your question (special thanks to Doug and Cathy for their help).  Walt Disney World is very good at meeting the special dietary needs of it's guests.  When you are booking your Advanced Dining Reservations make sure to mention any specific food allergies and they will be placed on your reservation as a note.  When the Chef of the Walt Disney World restaurant sees the note on the Advanced Dining Reservation he will create a special menu for your Mother which does not include pineapple.  Also when you arrive at the restaurant make your server aware of your special dietary needs.  Often the Chef will actually come out to speak with you about your needs and what he or she plans to create for you.

If you would like more reassurance, you can call the Polynesian Resort directly at 1-407-824-2000 and have them transfer you to the Restaurant directly and they can identify all of the foods on the menu that may contain pineapple in them or may be cooked near pineapple.  A special menu that is devoid of pineapple can be created for your Mother.  Also the Chef can call the other restaurants that you plan on dining at to alert them of your special dietary needs.

I hope that you and your family have many magical dining experiences on your next trip to Walt Disney World!

    Keep Dreaming Big!
