Making 3rd trip down in early Oct for Not So Scary, staying at Poly. Wanted to do someting different and special for 8 yr old son and for 10th anniversary. Has anyone done the African Trek? It is quite expensive. Is it worth it?

    Hi Jennifer!

The Wild Africa Trek is absolutely fantastic!  It was one of the best experiences that I have ever had at Walt Disney World.  I think most 8 year old boys would absolutely love it.  You can really get up and close with the animals and walking over the rope bridges is a lot of fun for anybody not scared of heights.  However, it is relatively expensive and while I have done it, the rest of my family members have not yet, but I hope to correct that soon.  They haven't done it because we have visited in the summer the past couple of years and will do the same this year.  The trek can be hot, especially with the extra clothing and gear that you have to wear.  However, I think October would be a great time to go.

If you do go, I suggest going on the very first trek available or close to that.  That is because the first part of the experience takes place in the park where regular guests can go.  I just think it feels more realistic if you are basically there by yourself or just with a few guests as opposed to trying to do the trek with the park is full!

I hope this helps!  Please write back with more questions!
