We're making some long term plans for an Animal Kingdom vacation. Looking for suggestions for nearby lodging other than the Animal Kingdom Lodge with transportation.

    Hi John,

Thank you so much for visiting planDisney with your vacation planning question. I am happy to help you consider where to stay for your upcoming Walt Disney World trip!

It looks like you are asking for other options than Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge for a trip on which you plan to visit Disney's Animal Kingdom often. There are a few options for this. I suggest that you take a look at this interactive map of Walt Disney World with the Disney Resort Hotels shown. On this map, you can zoom in and see where each of the Disney Resort Hotels is located.

One option for you would be Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. This is one of Walt Disney World's moderate level resort hotels. This resort includes Spanish, Mexican, and Southwest American influences in its theme. Disney's Coronado Springs Resort was the first place that my husband and I stayed when we visited Walt Disney World, so it holds a special place in my heart! The buildings are nestled on a lake, and it is a lovely resort. Accommodations at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort include both rooms and suites in smaller buildings, as well as the newer Gran Destino Tower.

Another option for you would be Disney's All-Star Resorts. These are Disney's All-Star Music Resort, Disney's All-Star Movies Resort, and Disney's All-Star Sports Resort. These resorts are located in close proximity to one another and are similar in their amenities, so your decision on which to chose might rest on which theme you prefer. These are value resorts at Walt Disney World, and they are very brightly themed and fun! They are also close in proximity to Disney's Animal Kingdom.

All of the Disney Resort Hotels that I mentioned above offer transportation to Disney's Animal Kingdom, as well as other locations at Walt Disney World, via bus. The other locations will be a slightly longer bus ride to Disney's Animal Kingdom than Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is; however, they are still fairly close to Disney's Animal Kingdom.

I hope that these recommendations are helpful for you, John! Please do let us know if you have any further questions.
