We are making our first DisneyWorld trip in March 2010. We're staying at Shades of Green and are considering renting a car for the week. Do you think that it would be ideal to have a car or is there enough transportation options there for 2 adults, 3 kids?

    Summer:

As far as options, Shades of Green only offers buses to the theme parks, water parks and Downtown Disney, but the good news is that they don't share with any other resort so time is fairly efficient.

If you want to be able to leave the property for snacks or a grocery store run, renting a car can make sense.  They also make transportation to all the theme parks, except for Magic Kingdom, quick and painless.  Additionally, if you have reservations at any of the resorts, it's a nice convenience over taking a bus to a theme park and finding transportation from there to a resort.

I don't recommend renting a car for every guest nor for every resort, but if it's in your budget, I'd consider it.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
