Making our 2nd DW trip as DVC members in Oct, Is it cost effective to do disney dining plan? We know we want to do Hoop Dee Doo and Plaza Rest. Or is it better to pay those outright and do counter serv for the rest? Our April trip is short so just doin cs.

    Hi Michele,

Your question is difficult to answer.  The Disney Dining Plan is cost effective when you are using all your Table Service Meal credits.  As a DVC Member, the DDP cost  $15.02 for ages 3-9 and $51.54 for ages 10 and above for each night you are staying.  This includes one Table Service meal, one Quick Service meal, and one snack a day plus a refillable resort mug.  I usually calculate it costs around $17 for a Quick Service meal (entree, drink, and snack) and $4 for a snack.   This leaves around $31 that is essentially for the Table Service meal.  This is how I decide if the DDP is worth it for my family, and it changes for each trip.  Keep in mind that the Hoop-Dee-Do Musical Revue takes two Table Service meal credits and the Plaza Restaurant takes one Table Service.  Actually looking at the prices, the entrees at the Plaza Restaurant are around $15 so even if you add a drink, this is still under the $30 to make the DDP cost effective for that day.  So I think that if you choose the DDP, I would actually pay cash for the Plaza Restaurant and use this Table Service meal credit for the day for the Hoop-Dee-Doo  Make sure you reserve your Advanced Dining Reservations in the next month as you can start doing so 180 days prior to your vacation.  Michele, If you only wanted to do the Plaza Restaurant and Hoop-Dee-Do and no other Table Service restaurants , then I would opt for the Quick Service Dining Plan.   Please send me a follow up question if this is too confusing or need any other advice!   Have a magical vacation real soon and in October!
