Hi Lauren!
One of the great things about the
Walt Disney World Resort is that they try to make everything accessible to all guests by providing
services for guests with disabilities, including special park guides for guests with disabilities! The hope is that all guests can have absolutely magical visits, regardless of their physical abilities.
Many of the
attractions at the Walt Disney World Resort are accessible to those in ECVs and wheelchairs. As long as your friend's power chair has three or four wheels, it would be considered an ECV. For rides that allow a guest to remain in an ECV, your friend would be able to remain in her chair. For rides that require guests to transfer to a wheelchair, she would have to transfer out of her chair into a regular wheelchair. Of course, there are also some rides that she would need to transfer out of her chair or out of a wheelchair to ride, simply because the ride vehicles can't accommodate wheelchairs of any kind. Be sure to check out the
Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities page to see a full listing of which rides require guests to transfer and which do not.
If you have any specific questions, you can also contact Disability Services directly by phone at (407) 560-2547 or by email at disability.services@disneyparks.com.
Have a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow!
