If we take the Main Street Tour at Disneyland, are you allowed to film it? Are you allowed to film inside Walt’s Apartment?

Hi there Kellie and welcome to planDisney!

There's definitely a lot to look back on over the past 100 Years of The Walt Disney Company and there seems to be no better time than the present to dive deep into the history behind it all at the places where it all began. From the sounds of it, you're interested in documenting your journey as you embark on Walt's Main Street Story Tour!

I inquired directly with the friendly Cast Members who confirmed that unfortunately, filming of the tour in its entirety is not permitted. They do encourage you to confirm with the folks at the Tour Gardens kiosk located just adjacent to City Hall as well as your guide as to what they may allow you to film during your allotted tour time. At the current time however, they do permit you to take as many photos as you would like as you explore and wander about Main Street, U.S.A. and learn about the various nods and details that harken back to Walt's hometown inspiration of Marceline, Missouri. (Personally, I found that many of these locations are already accessible to guests visiting Disneyland Park and easily filmed following the conclusion of your tour; since you'll likely be wearing earpieces that allow your guide to relay stories and information quietly to you during the tour, the audio wouldn't really come across if you were to film it as it was happening either way.)

Hopefully you aren't too disappointed to discover that filming within Walt's apartment above the Disneyland Fire Station is also not permitted nor is any photography with any personal cameras or devices. Instead, a Disney PhotoPass photographer will be on hard to snap a few shots of each person in your tour group which you'll have access to view afterward. In case you were interested in taking a sneak peek of what you might find inside, Disney Parks released a special look into Walt's apartment online as well as a look at 21 Royal which was originally conceptualized as another Disney family apartment.

Policies are always subject to change without prior notice, so it's always worth double-checking with the Cast Members on the day nonetheless. In the meantime, be sure to check out planDisney's deep dive into Disneyland Park with our experts Al and Tishra who lend a little bit of history as they introduce this very special place to first-time visitors and returning fans alike!

Wishing you all the best on your quest into yesterday at the Happiest Place on Earth!
