Hi there, Julie! Welcome to planDisney!
Your Disney cruise is almost here, and I’m so happy for you! Before you know it, you’ll be embarking on Captain Mickey’s ship as his pals announce your name, welcoming you on board! Luckily, you can choose any name you want for this magical announcement. But your cruise documentation, on the other hand, is a different story.
I know all about the hassle that comes with changing names on passports, and then making sure they match your travel documentation. I dealt with this myself when I got married; then again, recently, when my sister got married, and then she sailed on a Disney cruise with us, soon afterwards. I’ll tell you the same thing I told her: make sure your name on your reservation matches the name on your citizenship documentation! This is because guest names must match the
legal names provided in the citizenship documents being used. If you’re
using your passport, then yes, your guest name should be changed in your reservation to your maiden name on the passport.
Changing it is super easy. All you need to do is
contact Disney Cruise Line, and they can do it for you over the phone.
The good news is that even if you hadn’t caught it now, Disney Cruise Line would have eventually caught this when you complete your
Online Check-In. During your Online Check-In, you’re required to submit the citizenship documentation you will be using on board, and after you complete it, it is reviewed by Disney Cruise Line. From experience, they check these documents very thoroughly to make sure that all guest information is accurate, and if there are any discrepancies, they will reach out to you to correct them. Even so, I highly suggest correcting this now, so that it’s smooth sailing during your Online Check-In.
Julie, I hope I was able to provide clarification. I wish you many beautiful memories on board your cruise! Please sail back to planDisney if you have any other questions, as my Panelist friends and I are always happy to help!
You’ve Got a Friend in Me,
Rana
