Hi there, Rachel! Welcome to planDisney! I see I have a fellow
Magic Key holder in you! I hope you have been enjoying your key to the kingdom as much as I have! I think my
favorite perk has been the special photo opportunities made available just for key holders! I got a very cute one with Steamboat Willie himself and my panelist bud Carrie a few months ago. It makes me so happy when I catch a glimpse of that photo, and it takes me right back to that very fun and very magical moment!
While I can imagine how special and exciting it would be to share the magic this way with your son, your plans may need to be put on a tiny hold for the moment. As of this week,
Disneyland Resort has paused sales on all Magic Keys, including the Enchant and Imagine passes. I'm so sorry to have to be the one to share that news with you! We don't quite know when they will return, but we anticipate the pause to continue through the summer. The best place to stay up to date on the latest news would be the
@DisneylandMagicKey Instagram and Facebook accounts. You can also check back in the Magic Key Portal on the Disneyland App anytime to see if more information has been released!
I'm holding on to some happy thoughts that you might have purchased that key ahead of this announcement! If that is the case, your son's key would be
valid for one year from the date of first use. In other words, the clock would start as soon as he uses it to scan into the parks for the first time on your upcoming August trip. Key holders have one year from the date of purchase to activate the pass.
The good news is that even without a Magic Key of his own, your son will be able to feel some of the pixie dust from those perks. Your whole family can hop into those special photo opportunities, (including a new one just added for World of Color at Disney California Adventure Park!), taste some of those special menu items, and even join you for a midday break at
Magic Key Terrace. I recently got to experience this newly reimagined spot and loved its location above Wine Country Trattoria with its views of Disney California Adventure Park! The open-air space was breezy and a welcome break from that California midday sun. While I adore the specialty cocktails themed to the park's history, I have to say my favorite was the non-alcoholic Heimlich Chew Chew Juice! You can't go wrong with a little ode to "a bugs land"!
Rachel, I realize you may have some follow up questions, and I am here for you! Please don't hesitate to reach back out to me directly or any of my fabulous panelist friends - we are always here for you at
planDisney. While you may not get a Magic Key wish granted this time around, I guarantee that those Disneyland memories and experiences will be just as special. Forever memories in the making.
Never stop dreaming!
Tara
