Hiya, Julia!
Thank you for stopping by planDisney!
Oh wow, I love that you're a bi-coastal Mouseketeer! My favorite thing to do between Walt Disney World Resort and Walt's original theme park, Disneyland Resort, is ride all of the 'duplicate' attractions and compare what's different between the two. There's no shame if you leave The Happiest Place on Earth thinking that DLR has the better
Pirates of the Caribbean, "
it's a small world," and
Fantasmic! There's also no shame in your closet having
spirit jerseys from both resorts, either!
This is a great question. The
brand-new MagicBand+ options will work at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. Because
MagicBand technology is rolling out to the Disneyland Resort for the first time this fall, there are still a few questions as to just what kind of magic these new bracelets hold. To for sure get the full experience of the '
glow-with-the-show' visuals and haptics for
World of Color and the Bounty Hunter digital experience in
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, your best bet will be to
purchase new bands.
While it does make sense that older bands should be able to do some of the same things at Land as they do at World where they're still working just fine, the issue is that there isn't a place to connect older versions of bands to your
My Disneyland Account as it was only built to support the newest behind-the-scenes magic. If you'd rather pass on purchasing the new MagicBands+ for this trip, you can still do most of the things that MagicBands can do with your
Disneyland Mobile App. This includes using scanning your
digital ticket for theme park admission, redeeming your
Genie+ Lightning Lane reservations, and adding any
PhotoPass Photos taken to your profile. Do note that unlike at Walt Disney World Resort, MagicBands at Disneyland will not allow for charging purchases or opening your
Disneyland Resort Hotel guestroom door.
I hope that this helped to clEAR your question up, Julia, as well as better plan your upcoming Disneyland days! Be sure to follow the
