Hey there, Julie. Welcome to
planDisney!
I see that you have a trip planned to
Walt Disney World in just a few short weeks. I bet you are getting so excited. June is a perfect time to visit. The weather is sunny and warm - perfect for swimming, one of my favorite ways to cool off from a long day at the
Walt Disney World Theme Parks.Julie, the official word from Walt Disney World is that the life span of a
MagicBand is around 2 years. However, I have MagicBands from much further back that still work just fine. I think you'll just have to play it by ear. If it were me, I'd bring your old MagicBands and visit the front desk of the Walt Disney World Resort Hotel that you happen to be staying at when you arrive to see if they still work. If they do, then you are all set! If not, you can purchase new MagicBands at almost every merchandise location throughout the Walt Disney World Theme Parks, Resort Hotels and Disney Springs. If you don't want to purchase new MagicBands, you can also ask the Cast Member helping you for a complimentary key to the world card. These are like your traditional hotel key cards with Mickey and the gang on them. With your key to the world card, you can unlock your Walt Disney World Resort room door, enter the Walt Disney World Theme Parks, collect your PhotoPass pictures and so much more. Do you have the MyDisneyExperience app downloaded on your smartphone device, Julie? If so, you can also use this for everything you can use a MagicBand for. It's my preferred method now because it is so convenient. I do suggest you play around with it a few times before you go to familiarize yourself with the app. It really is such a great planning tool for your Walt Disney World vacation.
I hope this helps, Julie. If you have any other questions before you go, please feel free to stop back by and
ask me. I'm happy to help.
Have fun!
Jackie H.
