Hiya, Matthew!
Thank you so much for sending this
Disneyland Resort vacation planning question to us hEAR at planDisney!
Oh boy! This is a great question. The
Disneyland panelists have been patiently waiting (
some of us not-so-patiently) on news about using these colorful wearables at Mickey's original house for what seems like yEARs. Luckily
the Disney Parks Blog finally spilled the beans this week with a very informative post revealing what kind of hands-free magic we can expect at
The Happiest Place on Earth.
I too have a handful of MagicBand and MagicBand 2 bracelets from over the yEARs, and I was very curious to lEARn if they could be used on the West Coast. According to the
information released, it looks like just the brand new
MagicBand+ will sync up to the systems at Disneyland Resort. (Keep in mind, this is a brand new ballgame for us; Disney World introduced MagicBands in 2012 but this is the first time they're being used at Disneyland.) It seems that while older generations of MagicBands will continue to relay some information at Walt Disney World Resort, the magic behind the scenes at Disneyland will only support the new "+" series of bands. Also keep in mind that we don't actually have a 'go live' date for these new features at Walt's first theme park, so it's possible that while Fall just started, the system that supports the magic may not turn on until after your visit.
I'm so sorry that this might not have been the answer you were sEARching for, Matthew, but I do hope that you're very much looking forward to your upcoming Disney days! Be sure to follow the
official planDisney Panel Instagram account for even more tips and tricks. And if you have any more
