Since MagicBands are no longer provided free of charge if you are staying on property, does everyone in my group need one? Could we get by with one for the whole family since we won't be separating?

Hi there, Courtney! Greetings from planDisney! Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out and ask your Walt Disney World Resort vacation question!

For many years now, MagicBands have been the key to alleviating stress for many Guests at Walt Disney World Resort! MagicBands act as an all-in-one wristband that allows Guests to easily access many different parts of their stay with just the tap of their band. Some of these features include unlocking the door of your Disney Resort hotel room, accessing admission to theme parks and water parks, checking into your FastPass+ experiences, connecting Disney PhotoPass images to your account, and charging purchases to your Disney Resort hotel room.

While MagicBands will no longer be complimentary beginning January 1st, 2021, Guests do have the option of purchasing a wide range of new MagicBands with unique designs as well as the classic single color options!

You are most certainly welcome to purchase one MagicBand for your upcoming stay, though! It is important to note that your other family members included in your party will need to use a Key To The World card or theme park admission card to gain access to the theme parks throughout your visit. Another great option to avoid this would be to use MagicBands from a previous stay if you have visited Walt Disney World Resort in the past!

If you do plan on using only one MagicBand throughout your stay, I would highly recommend having other members of your party download the My Disney Experience app on their phones. This will allow them to unlock the door to their Disney Resort hotel room right from their phone, just in case your party is separated!

I hope you and your family have a practically perfect vacation this fall at Walt Disney World Resort! Please let us know if we can assist with planning any other portions of your stay!
