Hi Richard,
Welcome back to planDisney! It’s always a pleasure to see familiar Guests return with more questions as they plan new Disney vacations. Since your MagicBand is from 2022, you might want to explore what the new
MagicBand+ can do to make your visit even more engaging. This upgraded version not only works for park entry, Lightning Lane access, and linking
Disney PhotoPass photos, but it also offers interactive features like lighting up during nighttime spectaculars and buzzing along with certain attractions. I’ve been known to switch up my MagicBands based on which park I’m visiting because, let’s face it, they’re both functional and a great accessory!
Regarding your question about swapping out the center “puck” on your band, it’s definitely possible if your older MagicBand has the philips screw(s) securing the center piece. After purchasing a new MagicBand, you can carefully unscrew and exchange the pucks, keeping your beloved design while updating the technology. Just be sure to link the new puck to your MyDisney account through the
My Disney Experience app to ensure everything works seamlessly.
When it comes to shopping for MagicBands, I have a couple of favorite spots you should check out during your visit.
Pin Traders at Disney Springs and
Pin Traders—Camera Center at EPCOT usually have the largest selection and are fantastic places to hunt for the perfect design. I think you should consider picking up more than one! There’s nothing wrong with having options, and you never know when you’ll spot another design that absolutely needs your collection—perhaps after riding one of your favorite attractions.
I hope this helps with your puck-swapping plans! If the swap doesn’t work out, I’m confident you’ll find an amazing new MagicBand at one of my go-to shopping spots.
Let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with as you prepare for your next Disney adventure.
Cheers,
Brent
