Now that MagicBand+ is available where can I get one for my trip (staying on property) to Disneyland in August 2022?

    Hiya Rocky!

Welcome to planDisney! Thank you so much for sending this Disneyland Resort vacation planning question to us hEAR!

Oh Boy! You asked a great question about an exciting topic indeed! Technically the brand new MagicBand+ has debuted at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida but hasn't officially made its way west just yet. We still don't know anything about when it's coming or what all it will do when hEAR; all we really have is a blip from an announcement at the Destination D23 Ultimate Disney Fan Event last yEAR saying that they'll be coming to Land in 2022, plus what we've seen the bands do at Walt Disney World Resort.

I have a feeling that when they are released, you'll be able to buy them everywhere, lest this is how it is at Mickey's Florida house. Larger stores like the Emporium and World of Disney will most likely have more of a selection, while smaller stores and shops in the Disneyland Resort Hotels will have at least half a dozen designs. I would go ahead and direct you towards the MagicBand+ designs that are currently for sale on ShopDisney.com, however, we don't yet know if the bands truly are the same and will work in all of the U.S. Parks on both coasts, so I would hold off for now.

The good news is that your smartphone can tackle a few tasks tracked by MagicBands and MagicBand+: You can scan your Theme Park Admission Ticket and access your Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane admissions from either your Disneyland Mobile App or your digital wallet; unlock your Disneyland Resort Hotel guest room door; instantly save and link your Disney PhotoPass photos to your My Disneyland Account; and your phone can *kind* of act like the charge-to-room by saving a credit card to your Disneyland Mobile App and using it to pay for Mobile Food & Beverage Orders as well Merchandise Mobile Checkout.

I'm so sorry that this answer may not have been what you were sEARching for, but be sure to keep up with the Disney Parks Blog during this yEARs D23 Expo, Sept 9-11, as they usually provide the latest updates as soon as they're released in the convention sessions. Make sure you're following the official planDisney Panel Instagram account for all kinds of cool in-park tips and tricks.
