Welcome to planDisney, Carolin!
Let me begin by offering my congratulations! Wow, that is quite an achievement! Did you know that Walt Disney World is also celebrating its
50th Anniversary? What a "practically perfect" time for you to visit. Oh boy! Whilst I haven't been married for 50 years yet, I have celebrated my own wedding anniversary at Walt Disney World. So let me offer up some suggestions for you:
Make sure you stop by Guest Relations at any Theme Park and tell a Cast Member that you're celebrating your 50th anniversary. They'll wave their magic wand and *poof* some special anniversary buttons will appear for you to wear. You can then wear these buttons throughout your trip and Cast Members and Guests will be able to wish you a "Happy Anniversary!" My wife and I did this for our 5th-year anniversary and it made the trip extra special.
If, like me, you think Mickey + cake = happiness, then you could even order a special
Mickey Mouse celebration cake. You can pre-order it (choosing the flavor, size, and custom engraving) and have it delivered to any participating restaurant. Did someone say "restaurant"? What better way to celebrate an anniversary than a delicious meal at a romantic restaurant? Some of my favorites are California Grill, Cítricos, Jiko – The Cooking Place, Le Cellier Steakhouse, Narcoosee’s, Steakhouse 71, and Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera. For more suggestions on restaurants, our
planDisney team has put together a bunch of recommendations.
However, since you're arriving in a few days, you will probably struggle to find availability for the more popular restaurants. It's possible that there will be some last-minute cancelations. Therefore, you might want to keep checking in the build-up to your trip in case anything opens up.
If all else fails, one of the fantastic features of the My Disney Experience Mobile App is the ability to make
walk-up dining reservations at select restaurants.
I'd also recommend looking at the
Enchanting Extras Collection. You'll find VIP fireworks viewings, spectacular shows, and fascinating behind-the-scenes tours. Back in December, I enjoyed a VIP dessert and fireworks viewing of Harmonious with my planDisney pals. We also watched the magnificent
Drawn to Life Presented by Cirque du Soleil & Disney. I think either of these experiences would sprinkle that extra pixie dust on your trip! You could even book a Capture Your Moment photo session at any of the four Theme Parks. These personalized 20-minute photo sessions are a perfect way to capture the memory of your 50th wedding anniversary.
Finally, I'd suggest doing something simple (and free): take a
water taxi across Seven Seas Lagoon during sunset and/or when Disney Enchantment is happening.
I hope you have a magical anniversary, Carolin. Thanks for stopping by planDisney.
Mike
