Hello! We are going to Magic Kingdom on the same day as the Toy Story 10-miler in Epcot. Do you recommend going to the park early or is it better to stay at the resort in the morning and go in the afternoon on a race day? Thank you!

Hiya Shannon - welcome to planDisney!

Thanks so much for stopping by with a question for our team of panelists. We love to help Guests just like you plan your very own, very magical, Walt Disney World Resort vacations!

It's great that you're thinking about how the runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend might impact your plans during your visit. While I understand why you would ask, I don't necessarily think you need to make your plans around the race schedule. It's true that there are some road closures and traffic restrictions associated with most runDisney events at the Walt Disney World Resort, but they've been doing this a long time and have it down to a science!

I would simply recommend planning some extra travel time in the morning if you'd like to start your day bright and early at Magic Kingdom Park. If you're using complimentary Disney Transportation from your Disney Resort Hotel, they will know exactly how to get you where you need to go. If you were planning to use your personal vehicle to drive to Magic Kingdom Park, I recommend first stopping by the Front Desk of your Resort and speaking to a Cast Member to get up-to-date information on road closures and any important detours.

Shannon, it's also worth mentioning that your suggestion to just enjoy a leisurely morning at your Resort is also a great idea, and that applies to any day, race or no race! That being said, most road closures and transportation delays are wrapped up quite early in the morning as the races usually start before sunrise. Long story short, don't worry too much about this, plan as you would normally plan, and if you are driving yourself to Magic Kingdom Park early in the morning, just ask for advice and plan a little extra time!

I hope this information is helpful, Shannon - stop by with more questions any time!
