Hi, if I am going to Magic Kingdom on a day that there is a special event, does that mean I will have to buy the special event ticket to watch the fireworks?

    Hiya Carol!

Welcome to planDisney! Walt Disney World Resort has so many special events over the year but this time of year is the best. Both Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party have special nighttime spectaculars and parades that are amazing.

Traditionally, the special event fireworks are specific to those special parties and events only and if you do not have a ticket for that event you will not be allowed to remain in the Parks to see it. If you are arriving on December 26, 2023, then you will find that you will have just missed the last date for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party which is December 22, 2023. The week after Christmas (December 26th till January 1st) is one of the busiest times of the year and I took a risk and visited last December 26 to check it out! Boy, was I glad I had a chance to experience it! The Parks were still beautifully decorated for the holiday season and as a special surprise, we got to experience Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade and Minnie's Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Show without party tickets! It is not clear if this will be offered again this year but when you arrive in the States make sure to check the Hours & Events Calendar. Right now, the majority of December's events are not posted but there is a chance you could be surprised like I was!

Even if the special event fireworks don't surprise you this trip then know that Magic Kingdom Park will most likely have the amazing Happily Ever After nighttime spectacular! It's still a magical fireworks show with projections down Main Street, U.S.A.! Make sure that no matter which show you get to see please arrive there early to secure a spot or consider talking to your travel agent about booking a reservation at a Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Party which will guarantee you a great viewing area for the show!

I do hope this helps and if you have any more questions please feel free to let me know directly!

    Happy Planning!

We have traveled as just adults, with babies, kids, teenagers, and senior citizens. We have seen so many characters, eaten at amazing places, and consumed a ton of Dole Whips. So "give a little whistle" and let me be your guide! Learn More About Nimmy
