Does the Magic Kingdom close early on Halloween party days?

Seasons screamings, Kathleen and wishing you a wicked welcome to planDisney!

It's still the first week of August, but can you believe that the spookiest season has already begun to be in full swing here around Walt Disney World Resort? In just a few short days, frightful new food offerings will be unleashed upon unsuspecting guests in time for the first evening of Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party taking place on August 9, 2024.

To answer your question simply - Magic Kingdom Park does indeed close early for day guests on select evenings when the parties are taking place. It's always a good idea to check the Hours & Events Calendar on the dates of your visit and even confirm on the My Disney Experience app while you're here; this will appear with Special Ticketed Event hours with Park Hours that are currently end at 6:00 P.M on Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party dates. After this time, day guests (those not attending the party) will have to make their way to the exit while attendees with designated party wristbands are granted access to Magic Kingdom Park for the remainder of the evening.

It's important to note that this often means that guests who choose these particular dates for their Magic Kingdom Park visit won't be able to stay long enough to be able to enjoy the Happily Ever After fireworks that evening - though many savvy folks and families know to avoid these days for that reason. (This also seems to have the added effect of reduced standby waits for attractions on some days, which could be great to keep in mind for a great Park Hopper strategy!) Bear in mind that party attendees may be able to enter Magic Kingdom Park as early as 4:00 P.M. on event evenings, which will most certainly make it feel busier in those hours prior to the official start of Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party proceedings.

I hope this helps you prepare and plan ahead Kathleen! You're absolutely always welcome to come back to us here at planDisney for any other tips or advice ahead of your next Disney adventures!
