My magic key pass expires next month, what happens if I choose the renew this pass later option?

Hi Marlene! Thanks for dropping by planDisney.

I hope you've been enjoying your year of increased access to the magic, special exclusives, perks, and discounts. I became a Magic Key holder this year too, and it's been really great. My family especially loves the dining discount. We really enjoy dining in the parks, so it's got great value for us! If you're not following the Disneyland Magic Key blog, do so! It's a great official resource for Magic Key holders. That's how I found out about some collectible complimentary magnets on our last trip, but there's always something new to discover.

If you intend to renew your Magic Key pass to extend your fun into another year, you have a 30-day window to do so. Renewals are currently available up to 30 days prior to the expiration date. You can choose to renew the pass later, delaying the renewal, for as long as you're still within the eligibility window. Once the expiration has passed, however, your pass is no longer eligible for renewal. Unfortunately, sales of new Magic Keys are currently paused, so you'd have to wait for sales to open again if you let the pass lapse. I don't know when they might open up again, so you could be waiting for a while. If only we had Madame Leota's crystal ball!

When you're ready to renew within your window, you can visit the Renewals page on the Disneyland Resort website, scroll down to the bottom of the page to confirm your pass is eligible for renewal, and begin the process to renew. It's that easy!

    I hope this helps.
