Hey there, Barbara! Welcome to planDisney from one fellow Magic Key holder to another! Isn’t being part of the Magic Key ‘ohana the best?
I renewed my
Magic Key at the end of 2025 and had this very same question, so I am happy to help clear things up for you! When you renew a Magic Key pass, your new year begins the day after your current pass expires, not the first day you return to the parks. That means if your pass expires on April 30th, your year will run through April 2027, even if you are not able to visit again until September.
Because of this, you will need to decide whether renewing now still makes sense for you, or if you want to let it expire and try to purchase a new Magic Key closer to your September visit. Magic Key passes are not guaranteed to be available at any given time, so waiting can feel a little bit like rolling the dice. The Magic Key
Terms and Conditions page has all the need to know information.
Maybe this will be the perfect excuse for a spontaneous visit between now and then! Truly, any day at the
Disneyland Resort is a good day.
I know this may not be exactly what you were hoping to hear, and it does leave you with a decision to make, but I am so glad you reached out so you have all the information you need to choose what works best for you.
Barbara, no matter what you decide, I hope your next visit is filled with magic, laughter, and plenty of unforgettable memories!
Sending you a little extra pixie dust,
Kimberly
