if my magic key expires on February 1 and I renew it on January 15, does my year start on February 1 or January 15?

Hello there George!  Welcome to planDisney, I'm more than happy to help you with your great question.

How exciting that you're going to renew your Magic Key Pass for another year of magic at the "Happiest Place on Earth!"  I hope you have had a year full of wonderful memories.

You are correct that you will be able to renew your Magic Key pass up to 30 days before your current Magic Key pass expires, and the renewal date does not change when your new Magic Key pass will be activated.  Your new Magic Key pass will be activated the day after your current Magic Key pass expires, so you will not lose those 2 weeks if you renew early.  I highly recommend renewing early so you will be good to go for another year of magical memories!

I'm sure you've been enjoying all of the wonderful benefits and discounts that are available to Magic Key holders, and I highly recommend checking out this Disney Parks Blog article that overviews all of the exciting events and entertainment that is coming to the Disneyland Resort in 2024!  I cannot wait to see Fantasmic! again which is my favorite nighttime spectacular, and experience the return of Pixar Fest.

Best of luck renewing your Magic Key Pass, George!  I'm wishing you and your family another wonderful year full of thrills and laughter.  If you think of any other questions, please do not hesitate to come back and follow-up with me!

    Have a magical day!
