Now that Magic Hours are suspended for the foreseeable future, are their any real benefits to staying at an onsite resort?

    Hi Matthew!

    Welcome to planDisney!

The short answer is YES! There are still some great benefits to staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel. We adore the resort hotels because of the fantastic amenities they offer. In particular, we love the dining and transportation options at deluxe and deluxe villa resort hotels. When we visited last, we stayed at Disney's BoardWalk Villas and were able to walk to EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios. We truly felt as if we were right in the middle of the magic.

Second, with a Walt Disney World Resort hotel stay, you will also get access to make your advanced dining reservations 60 days prior to your trip for the length of stay up to 10 days. Given the limited restaurant capacity at this time, that reservation window is helpful. Keep an eye on the dining operational updates as procedures could change.

Third, you can access complimentary transportation from your resort hotel to the theme parks and Disney Springs. My favorite mode of transportation is always the Resort Monorail but, I have to admit that the Disney Skyliner is pretty awesome as well! The few times I have stayed off property, the advertised transportation was not as frequent or reliable. And, finally Disney's Magical Express® is a wonderful way to get from Orlando International Airport to your Walt Disney World Resort hotel.

As you make your plans, be sure to review the Disney Park Pass system and check the Park Availability Calendar. Note the tabs for Disney Resort Guests, Annual Passholders, and Theme Park Tickets Guests. And be sure to make those park pass reservations prior to your visit.

Matthew, most of all, my family loves the wonderful Cast Members that provide the magic at Walt Disney World Resort hotels. There is nothing quite like it and, quite honestly, makes us feel at home each time we visit. The smiles they have brought to our girls' faces have been immeasurable!

    Magic and memories,
