Hiya, Jean!
As a fellow
Disney Vacation Club Member, I'm happy to welcome you to planDisney. With a stay booked for next February, I'm thinking
Disney's Old Key West Resort is your Home Resort –– since it's mine, too, I guess that makes us neighbors, right?! While some DVC Resorts keep you right in the middle of the action, Old Key West always makes me feel like I'm miles away from everything, which is why I love it so much. No matter how busy or stressful our day has been, Old Key West is always ready to welcome my family home with an extra dose of relaxation. While it might seem far away now, you'll be checking in before you know it!
Unfortunately, Walt Disney World's Disney Magical Express service was discontinued at the end of 2021. While I was sad to see it go, there are still have plenty of great options for getting to and from Orlando International Airport. If you're looking for a Magical Express-style bus service, I recommend looking into Mears Connect of Sunshine Flyer, both of which can be booked through their respective websites. You also have the option to use a rideshare service, like Uber or Lyft, grab a taxi from the airport, or schedule a private car service. If you enjoy the freedom of having your own vehicle, you can also rent a car at the airport –– remember, as DVC Members,
standard overnight parking is complimentary at Disney's Old Key West Resort, so there won't be an extra parking fee once you arrive.
Personally, I think using a rideshare service is the easiest option for getting to and from Walt Disney World Resort. I like scheduling a ride from the app once we have our luggage and it's usually ready and waiting as soon as we exit the airport. On our departure day (or the day before), I typically schedule our ride ahead of time to avoid the hassle of finding a car when we're on a tight timeframe to catch our flight. While it doesn't make leaving Walt Disney World Resort any easier, it definitely makes it less stressful –– and that's always a win in my book!
Thanks for visiting planDisney, Jean. If you think of more questions as you plan your upcoming vacation, I hope you'll stop by again ––
we're always happy to help!
Have a Magical Day,
Amy
