How do I get a Magic card?

Hello and welcome to planDisney, Krisle! Thanks for stopping by with your question.

I see you have a trip planned to the Most Magical Place On Earth in a little over a month. I bet you are getting so excited, Krisle. Hopefully, the countdown is on!

You can access the magic of a Walt Disney World vacation in many ways such as

If you want to use a MagicBand for your upcoming vacation, you can either purchase one ahead of time or when you get to Walt Disney World. If you'd like to purchase one before your arrival most vacation packages are eligible for this up to 10 days prior to their vacation. To see if you can pre-purchase a MagicBand, log in to your MyDisneyExperience account. Then, you'll need to find the My MagicBands & Cards link under the drop-down menu on the right-hand corner of the screen. Under your current reservation, you should see a blue "Get Started" button to select if you are eligible for a prearrival MagicBand Purchase. If not, no worries. You can purchase a MagicBand at almost every merchandise location at the Walt Disney World Theme Parks and Resort Hotels. After your purchase, you can follow the directions on the back of the packaging for easy linking to your Walt Disney World reservations.

Another option would be to use a Key to the World card while you are at Walt Disney World. These are like your standard hotel room key card except you can do quite a bit with these. Also, these are complimentary for you during your stay. You can unlock your Walt Disney World Resort room door, enter the Walt Disney World Theme Parks, collect your PhotoPass pictures and so much more. To get a Key to the World card, all you need to do is stop by the front desk of the Walt Disney World Resort Hotel that you happen to be staying at and ask. A friendly Cast Member will be more than happy to help you.

The last way you can access the magic is through your mobile device. Once you have the MyDisneyExperience app downloaded on your smartphone, you can actually add your theme park tickets to your mobile wallet via Disney Magic Mobile. To use this, you'll open the app and then select the three horizontal blue lines to open the menu. Scroll until you see the Disney Magic Mobile options and then follow the prompts to add your tickets to your phone. It's easy peasy and my preferred way of entering the theme parks these days. Disney Magic Mobile can also connect Disney PhotoPass images to your account, help you gain access to virtual queue attractions when your boarding group is called and you'll even be able to charge to your Disney Resort hotel folio during your stay. It's great!

I hope this helps break down all of the options you have for your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation, Krisle. If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach back out to me. I'm happy to help.

    Have fun!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
