Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Greg!
I’m so happy to report that yes, you are able to recycle used
MagicBands. I dropped off a big baggie filled with MagicBands at the front desk of my
Walt Disney World Resort hotel last year, and the Cast Member there assured me that they do recycle the MagicBands. Given
The Walt Disney Company’s commitment to reducing plastic waste, it makes my heart happy to know this is one of their many conservation initiatives.
You’ll first want to ensure you deactivate any MagicBands you’d like to recycle. Login to your
My Disney Experience account, and go to “My MagicBands & Cards.” Under “Manage MagicBands or Cards,” you’ll see a list of Profiles you manage, and a list of their associated MagicBands. Click the button for “Deactivate" beside any MagicBand you're no longer using. This will ensure your profile is not associated with the MagicBand you recycle.
Once the MagicBands are deactivated, stop by the front desk of any Walt Disney World Resort hotel and request to recycle the bands.
Greg, I’ve seen lots of great ideas for reusing MagicBands – everything from collars for stuffed animals to creating a Christmas tree garland. The internet is filled with ideas, so if you’re crafty, be sure to do a quick search.
On behalf of my pals Wall-E and Eve, thank you for taking steps to care for our earth!
Have a zip-a-dee-doo-dah day,
Robyn
