    Can magic bands from 2021 be used for an upcoming trip?

    Hi ya, Melanie! Welcome to planDisney. The technology behind MagicBands is incredible. When we started using them over 10 years ago I didn't think anything could be cooler until they came out with MagicBand+. Here are some things to know for your upcoming October adventure.

    There are a few different types of MagicBands. Some have a non-rechargeable battery and others have an internal rechargeable battery. MagicBands with non-rechargeable batteries are said to have a 24-month lifespan depending on the use. I know I have MagicBands that are over five years old that still work so yours from 2021 may work if it is lightly used.

    If you get to the theme parks and it does not work, you have a few options. 

    • Buy a new MagicBand
    • Upgrade to a MagicBand+ (these are rechargeable)
    • Use a plastic Key to the World Card that you can get from the ticket window
    • Create a Disney MagicMobile Pass on your smart device if available
    These options will get you into the theme parks and attractions.
